Harold E. Malde. (Deceased November 4, 2007)

Harold E. Malde graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University (Oregon) in 1947, with a degree  in mathematics and chemistry.  After a stint at Harvard University, he studied geology at the University of Colorado.  He was a USGS geologist in Denver from 1951 to 1987. He was best known for his studies in Quaternary geology and for his superb photography, winning several awards in both areas.  He became project geologist for the Valsequillo Project in 1964. Hal gave a eulogy of his friend and USGS colleague at Rep's memorial service.
