Steve May received his M.S. from the University of California at Riverside in 1981 and his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1985 during which time he also worked summers with Charles Repenning at the U.S.G.S in Menlo Park, CA.  In 1985, Steve joined Exxon Production Research Co. working on plate tectonics, paleogeography, basin analysis and hydrocarbon systems analysis for a variety of regional studies through the early 1990’s.  Steve has continued in research assignments across a range of areas including hydrocarbon migration, visualization and volume interpretation, and basin analysis.  Steve is currently Chief Research Geoscientist for ExxonMobil.
